Advertising Joni Nuetra has generated a list on names to be contacted as possible advertisers in 2011. She got some additional suggestions from the Board.
Block Captains After a review of the purpose of block captions (to build a sense of community and increase neighborhood participation in community events), Karla volunteered to be the person listed on our website as the contact for this project. If she had a list of all the blocks in our neighborhood, she would be able to report on how close we were to our goal of one captain per block. Greg Neutra volunteered to put out an email to all the people who voted in our last election to see if any of them are interested in being a block captain.

Board Member Presentations
Ann: Barbara Clark has bought the house on Elm next to Milton’s. It will be the home of the Spanish horse foundation. They plan an opening in December.
214 Arno NE is adding an attached garage in back. This property has served as a grocery, a residence, a bottling company, a church, a school, and a deli (not necessarily in that order).
A flyer will be distributed to announce this year’s lighting contest, to be judged on the day of the Dickens of a Dinner neighborhood fundraiser. Ann is still looking for one more home (on the south side of Central) willing to host.
Lee: He will winterize the exposed parts of the irrigation system at the community garden. He is also planning to assist Joaquin with putting up seasonal lights at the community garden and Preservation Station.
Bonnie: Amberley and Bonnie met with Councilor Benton and Representative Miera to discuss possible funding of the part of the Lead/Coal project from I-25 to Broadway. Mr. Benton agreed to put this project on the GO Bond that goes to the voters in November 2011. He also supported using contingency funds that may be left over from the I-25 to Washington part of the project to start on some phase of the project in our neighborhood.
David D.: David worked with the owners of the Quality Foods to install noise isolators on the rooftop compressors that have been creating a disturbance in parts of our neighborhood. Several neighbors reported to David that they felt the noise level had improved since that installation took place.
