Minutes from February 2, Approved
Meeting with the Mayor, in conjunction with EDo—Amberley asked who would be available to meet with the Mayor in a few weeks during lunch at the Artichoke. There will be a pre-meeting with EDo representatives to discuss the talking points the group wants to share with the Mayor. Moises, Steve (via a previous conversation with Amberley), and Amberley committed. Liam, Ann, and Karla will check their calendars.
501 c3 status for HHHDA—Ryan reported that Tony Jeffries has agreed to file this paper work for HHHDA without charging the Board. There may be past tax liabilities that the Board will have to cover but the advantages of having 501 c3 make it worthwhile. The chief advantage is that the Board can now apply for grants that could be used to enhance our neighborhood. Liam agreed to ask his father (Bill Hoch) about the history of our tax status. Bill was serving on the Board in the 1980s when our 501 c3 lapsed.
Dickens of a Dinner—Ann reported that HHHDA made $1100 on this year’s Dickens event with 72 paying customers.
Zoning—Amberley reviewed the history of zoning changes that will soon impact our neighborhood. In the 1950s new zoning codes that allowed only one residence per lot in areas zoned R1 were put in place. At the same time, an exemption for “R1” property owners with more than one residence per lot was granted until 2012. The City has announced that starting in 2012, property owners that can prove that their property should be excluded from this zoning because it historically had more than one residence (for example, built as a duplex) will be allowed to petition the City, pay a fee (over $120), and present the necessary documentation to be allowed to keep the additional residence(s). Others are vulernable to having the additional residence(s) demolished.
Amberley will contact Isaac Benton’s office to see if he would be willing to hold a public meeting to discuss the implications of the upcoming zoning exemption deadline.

Schedule of Events
Easter Egg Hunt (10 AM, Saturday, 4/23) – Marina Hillard has agreed to lead this event. Bonnie and Kathy agreed to pick up the park at 8 AM.
Mother’s Day Home Tour (11-3, Sunday, 5/8) – Phoenix, Amberley, Ann, and Joni will met to discuss whether we should include another neighborhood in this event. We are not sure if we have enough homes and businesses to stage the event by ourselves.
Other Business
- Lee has agreed to serve as treasurer since Joaquin is no longer available.
- Two famous artists have recently purchased homes in our neighborhood: Fernando Delgado and Judy Chicago. Amberley agree to approach Fernando about the possibility of serving on our Board (vacancy created by Joaquin’s departure).
- Bonnie reported that funding for our section of the Lead/Coal renovation has been reduced to $500,000 if the new bond issue passes plus any contingency funds that may remain when the rest of the project is finished.
- Bonnie reported that there was a $200 surplus from the community garden that will be spent on garden supplies for this summer. This year the garden will have a combination of private rows and community rows.
