Minutes of the October meeting were read and approved.
Dickens of a Dinner—Dickens of a Dinner will take place December 3rd this year; the invitations are out but Ann needs more volunteers and houses for the tour! All hands on deck!
Lot Split
Ben Sturge will soon be moving to remodeled house on High and Silver, but his mother would like to stay living in the casita at back of his current house on Walter Street. Would like to move forward and split the Walter lot to enable the casita to remain separate from front house, as they plan to sell the front house. Board voted all in favor of writing a letter of support to subdivide the Sturges’ Walter lot into separate lots.
Lead and Coal update—At the October 17 meeting the council voted to place stop lights at Walter and Lead, and Walter and Coal. The timeline for project completion is unknown.
New Ideas for HHHDA to explore:
- Ideas to place four way stop signs on Silver Avenue to slow traffic, especially near the Greek Orthodox Church (High and Silver) and the Lutheran School (Edith and Silver). Susan, Tom and Ben will explore this idea.
- Finding out how to get a neighborhood sign announcing the entrance of Huning Highland neighborhood on Lead + Coal
- Creating small yard signs for houses under construction, saying something like “Preserving Huning Highland” or “This little house is worth saving!” Pam will pursue this!
Crime report—Travelers have been victimized more than locals in the Albuquerque area the past month. With holiday season coming on, make sure you are home to collect packages! Mail theft has been abundant in the neighborhood lately and this is an issue that should be reported to the postmaster. Periodic watch in the area, call 505-761-8800.
Christine Kent—Christine from the Whole Woman Center visited the meeting to remind us all the importance of being kind to our neighbors.
Meeting adjourned at 7:23pm, next meeting 6:30pm December 7th.
