Minutes of the November meeting were read and approved.
Crime Report
Sgt. Dan Jordan reported the crime activity in Huning Highland for the month of November, which included: 1 auto theft, 6 auto burglaries, 3 vandalisms, 1 theft/larcency. Auto burglaries (because of holidays) and thefts (because of running cars to warm up) are typical this time of year, according to police. The officer added that Huning Highlands does an excellent job of neighbors looking out for other neighbors.
Dickens of a Dinner
Ann Carson gave a rundown of the Dickens schedule, the order of houses, and the volunteers serving at each house.
Lead/Coal Update
Lead got new striping, configured in such a way as to give the impression of narrower lanes. Councilor Benton’s staff (Tom) will be meeting about Coal in the coming days. The Board discussed the merits of signalized crosswalks at Edith and Walter. Bonnie will find out what they look like.
Miscellaneous
- Brittany across the street wants to do plastic pickets instead of wood and has asked Ann and the Board to support it. The Board voted to support her plans.
- Sam wants the Board to stick to more conservative definitions of “historic” in what it votes to support. He favors what is outlined in Zoning; i.e., the keeping, maintaining, and restoring of the neighborhood in its original character. Both Elaine and Salley argued that historic and modern can work together without deviating from the sector plan and design guidelines.
Meeting adjourned at 7:30. Next meeting is Wed., Jan. 6, 2015.
