Minutes:Minutes of the March 2019 meeting were read and approved.
OFFICER REPORT—Officers reported three (3) commercial burglaries, two (2) residential burglaries and two (2) auto thefts. Ann shared that she had a woman trying to gain access to her property through her back gate late on 04/01/2019. Officers advised No Trespassing signs needed to be posted on properties in order for the police to handle situation where an intruder is just on your premises, without actually trying to break in through a fence or your house. No Trespassing signs need to have the City Ordinance number on them.
FIRE STATION UPDATE—The Greek Church representative advised that the City of Albuquerque’s latest appraisal of the Fire Station ($480,000) was based on the property remaining a Fire Station and will have a new appraisal done. This process will take approximately 6 to 8 weeks. A Letter of Support for this project will be deferred until the appraisal information is presented at a future meeting.
318 EDITH BLVD. SE RENOVATION—Noreen, the property owner of 318 Edith SE, presented the renovation plans for her property. She clarified that 318 is the Cottage and 320 is the house on the street. Her plans are for the Cottage only, at this point in time.
214 ARNO NE CHANGE IN ZONING REQUEST—The new owners have requested a Zone Change from R-1A to MXB for this historic property that originally housed a bottling company. Ann Cason shared that the new owners have renovated the property and are hopeful for the zone change to allow for potential light commercial use such as a deli or bakery. The owners are holding an Open House and presentation of their vision for the property on April 16th from 5-7. Ben suggested a letter of support for the zoning change be based on its historical commercial use. The Board voted to support the zoning change.
MOTHER’S DAY TOUR UPDATE—Ann has been able to secure seven (7) properties for the 2019 Mother’s Day Tour. Successful marketing of the Tour is based on multiple avenues of advertising. We are having trouble getting the Albuquerque Journal to respond to our request for an article in the paper about the event. Susan volunteered to reach out to one of her contacts at the paper.
PERMIT PARKING – EDO—EDO would like the Huning Highland Neighborhood to support neighborhood wide permit parking. Discussion regarding the pros and cons of such a request were made by Steve, David and Moises. There is no consensus relative to this request and future discussions will be based on further information. There was no resolution to this matter.
THE BAKEHOUSE—Sarah and Chris, owners of the Burque Bakehouse, graciously provided samples of their baked goods. They currently sell at several locations around town but they have purchased the old Dairy Queen property on Broadway and are renovating it for their new brick and mortar location. It will take approximately 2-4 months for construction.
