Officer’s report: (for May 3-June 3)  5 burglaries, 3 motor vehicle thefts, 1 recovered vehicle. Majority of incidents occur on Tuesdays at around 10am. 

Renovation of the old Baptist Church – John Freisinger, Director of Innovate ABQ  

  • Rainforest dorm completed. Now 86% occupancy for students involved in entrepreneurship. 
  • Makerspace in old gym for old Baptist Church completed.
  • Future plans for buildings: Church was decommissioned in 2007. There are 3 buildings: the sanctuary on corner, a 5 story office building - north of church. This will be converted to new office space and the old education wing west of the church which will converted to bioscience lab space.  
  • Plans are to demolish the walkway that connects the historic church building with the new building and improve the aesthetics of the building.
  • Future plans are to have stacked parking rather than surface parking.

Remodel of 206/208 Broadway – David Mahlman, Thirsty Eye Brewery. The gallery has 50 artists that show. Work has been completed on a Microbrewery and Tap Room and Coffee House (hours will be 7:30am-10pm) that will open Friday, June 14, 2019, 5pm-10pm for 2nd Friday Art Walk. ThirstyEyeBrew.com They will have pastries and snacks and food trucks. The gallery will be available for private events for about 50 people.

Review of letter to Mayor Keller on Lead/Coal stoplights/bike safety – Bonnie read a draft of her letter to the Mayor and got comments.

Recognition of Clean-Up by First Presbyterian Church on May 11 – Representatives from Church—The church’s Community Life Committee works on community building activities. They cleaned up a 12 block area. Central to MLK, Freeway to Edith. They also host Coffee with a Cop. There will be another one on a future Sunday after church. The community is invited to attend these events. Dates will be posted in Nextdoor. 

Notice of Expansion - Presbyterian Hospital—Presbyterian Hospital sent us a notice about future expansion - a new wing and parking. 

Pending Zoning Issues—Paid parking lot across the Grove. Moises reported on the current situation.

205 Edith NE—Postponed to July agenda.

New Appraisal for Fire Station – Representatives from the Greek Church. The Greek Church is interested in Fire Station. The original appraisal of $480,000, was based on the building remaining a fire station. The church bid $150,000 for the building but the bid was rejected. A new appraisal is now $192,000 and the church will place another bid. The Neighborhood Association will write a letter of support. Ideas for use of the space include offices,  youth and recreation multi-use meeting space, weekday evening service - church annex, and a museum for church history. 

Block Party—Date set for August 11, 2019

Eugene Field School and Longfellow –  Representatives from the school want to partner with our community garden and announced their Dinner with a cop events. They are talking with the city about traffic and speed.
